今日のVivid Conversationsは、「色」をテーマに即興スピーチブートキャンプです。

参加者には一人ずつ、それぞれ異なる色について質問しました。

"When you hear the word 'red,' what comes to mind?"（「“赤”という言葉を聞くと、何を思い浮かべますか？」）

質問に使った色は、赤、青、黄色、緑、白、黒、金、銀、ピンク、紫、オレンジ、茶色。さらに、グレー、虹色、ターコイズ、ネイビーも登場しました。

まず、赤について質問されたMさんが思い浮かべたのは、以前10年以上乗っていた真っ赤な日産車でした。気に入っていた車でしたが、最後には故障し、レッカー車で運ばれていったそうです。

青について、Kさんは子どもの頃は青が好きだったと話しました。しかし、青をとても好む友人の影響もあり、今では以前ほど好きな色ではなくなったそうです。また、マンチェスター・シティの青も話題になりました。

黄色を担当したIさんは、秋の黄色い葉や黄色いバラを思い浮かべました。赤いバラよりも黄色いバラのほうが好きなのだそうです。

緑について、Aさんは桜の季節が終わった後に広がる新緑について話しました。また、緑の野菜も大好きで、新しく購入した大きな冷蔵庫には、たくさんの野菜を保存できるそうです。

白からMさんが思い出したのは、氷川神社で挙げた和装の結婚式です。

黒について、Kさんは自分の黒い髪と瞳について話し、目の色とメラニンの関係にも触れました。

金色では、Iさんが文化的なつながりについて話したほか、ご主人が結婚指輪をなくしてしまったエピソードも紹介しました。

銀色から、Aさんはプラチナのアクセサリーを思い浮かべました。

ピンクはMさんのお母様が好きだった色です。Mさん自身の一番好きな色ではありませんが、ピンクを見ると、お母様を思い出すそうです。

紫を担当したKさんは、BTSのメンバーVが使ったことで知られる表現 "I purple you." を思い出しました。

オレンジでは、Iさんがオレンジジュースとハロウィーンのカボチャを挙げました。

茶色について、Aさんは年齢とともに自分に似合う色が変わってきたと感じており、今ではあまり好きな色ではないと話しました。

そのほかにも、グレー、虹色、ターコイズ、ネイビーといった色が質問に使われました。Kさんは虹色から原宿のカラフルな食べ物を思い出し、Iさんはターコイズから空のような明るい青を連想しました。

そして、今回のBest Spontaneous Speakerには、今回も落ち着いた話しぶりで、参加者の心に残るスピーチを披露してくださったAさんが選ばれました。おめでとうございます！

Every Color Tells a Story

Today's Spontaneous Speaking Session at Vivid Conversations

Today's Vivid Conversations session was built around the theme of colors.

Each participant was given a different color and answered the question:

"When you hear the word 'red,' what comes to mind?"

The colors included red, blue, yellow, green, white, black, gold, silver, pink, purple, orange, brown, gray, rainbow, turquoise, and navy.

For red, M talked about the bright red Nissan car she had driven for more than ten years before it finally broke down and had to be towed away.

For blue, K said that blue used to be her favorite color when she was younger, but that changed over the years. She also mentioned the blue of Manchester City.

For yellow, I thought of autumn leaves and yellow roses, explaining that I prefer yellow roses to red ones.

For green, A spoke about the beautiful fresh greenery after cherry blossom season and her love of green vegetables. She also shared that her new refrigerator has plenty of space to store them.

For white, M remembered her traditional Japanese wedding at Hikawa Shrine.

For black, K talked about her black hair and dark eyes and explained how melanin affects eye color.

For gold, I shared some cultural associations with the color and also mentioned the story of my husband's lost wedding ring.

For silver, A thought of her platinum jewelry.

For pink, M remembered her mother, who loved wearing pink clothes.

For purple, K thought of BTS member V's well-known expression, "I purple you."

For orange, I mentioned orange juice and Halloween pumpkins.

For brown, A explained that it has become one of her least favorite colors as her preferences have changed over the years.

We also heard stories inspired by gray, rainbow, turquoise, and navy. K associated rainbow colors with colorful food in Harajuku, while I connected turquoise with the light blue color of the sky.

This session's Best Spontaneous Speaker Award went to A, whose calm delivery once again left a lasting impression on everyone. Congratulations!
