**2:26 - Facilitator:**
So, the first question for you: Do you have a preference between wooden and concrete houses?
**2:59 - Participant 1:**
Uh, I prefer wooden houses. I want to live in an old wooden house in the countryside someday. I feel the wooden houses are softer, and they suit gardens well. But now, I live in a concrete house because I’m scared of burglar.
Before going to bed, I check the locks on the windows. So, for now, I prefer concrete houses. But someday, I hope to stay in a wooden house. That’s my hope.
**5:45 -Facilitator:**
Thank you so much. Wonderful!
You know, my late father used to be a Kendo master. He was very strong, but still, he was so timid. He was always afraid of thieves, even though he was a Kendo master. It’s funny, right?
My husband is always nervous too. He always sleeps with a baseball bat under his bed.
**11:00 - Facilitator:**
Wonderful! What a lovely memory.
Next, what do you associate with the word "start"?
**12:02 - Participant 3:**
When I hear the word "start," I think of doing my best and feeling excited.
**14:10 -Facilitator:**
So, when you think of starting something, it makes you feel positive and eager to do your best. That's great.
Next, what comes to mind when you think of autumn?
**16:07 - Participant 1:**
When I think of autumn, I think of harvest season, especially sweet potatoes. I have a rental vegetable garden, and I look forward to harvesting sweet potatoes every autumn. I love eating them, whether they’re baked, steamed, or dried.
This year, I hope my grandson will help me dig up the sweet potatoes. That would be so much fun.
I love sweet potatoes. They’re one of my favorites.
**19:47 - Facilitator:**
Do you like the number 10? Why or why not?
**19:52 - Participant 2:**
I like the number 10 because it's easy to count by tens—10, 20, 30.
Yes, 10 is a nice number. It’s easy to count with 10 fingers.
When I was a child, my mother would give me 10 yen every day. I liked that number because of it.
Interestingly, when I put the 10 yen daily allowance my mother gave me in my pocket and forgot to spend it, I felt really scared. I thought I had to use the 10 yen on the same day.
A bunch of Bananas used to cost 30 yen each back then, which was quite expensive. Only when we were sick could we eat bananas.
**24:28 - Facilitator:**
Now that I think about it, a bowl of ramen used to cost 50 yen back then.
Next, today is October 9th, an odd number. Do you prefer even or odd numbers?
**25:36 - Participant 3:**
I prefer even numbers. Even numbers feel more calming to me.
**27:43 - Facilitator:**
Alright, do you notice any differences in this year’s autumn compared to last year?
**28:34 - Participant 1:**
I enjoy eating seasonal foods. Now that it’s autumn, I like to eat grilled fish like saury. But grilling it at home can be difficult with my equipment.
Saury is a popular fish in autumn. It’s wonderful when grilled.

The mayors of Shibuya and Shinjuku have announced a ban on street drinking during Halloween. What do you think of this decision?
**32:39 - Participant 2:**
I think it’s a good policy. Many foreigners come to Japan for Halloween, and they think it's easy to drink on the streets here. I think the ban is a good idea to prevent problems. However, there are no penalties for street drinking, but the ban is a good start.
**36:43 - Facilitator:**
Hand-me-down clothes are common in many families. Does your family use a hand-me-down system?
**38:29 - Participant 3:**
Yes, when I was little, I used to get hand-me-downs from my older sister. I didn’t get new clothes often, but now, second-hand clothing is very popular.
It makes sense. People these days are more open to using second-hand clothes.
**44:37 - Facilitator**
That’s common in offices too.
Can you share a sentence with 'be reminiscent about'?
**51:50 - Participant 1:**
As I mentioned earlier, I lost my mother recently. After a few months,
My sister and I were reminiscent about our late mother, fondly recalling the memories we shared with her.
**52:22 - Facilitator:**
Thank you for sharing that.
**53:14 -Participant 2:**
One day, while I was walking down the street, someone suddenly called out to me, and it turned out to be an old classmate.
He recently invited me to go swimming pool in Toride. It was a great time, and I felt so happy reconnecting with them.
**54:27 - Facilitator:**
That sounds like a great coincidence, meeting up with an old friend like that!
And the pool was cheap too, right?
**55:09 -Participant 2:**
Yes, it was. It cost just 180 yen for the whole day.
**56:04 - Participant 3:**
One of the first things that surprised me when I joined this workshop was that Akira-san has the same name as my husband. Then later, Noboru-san joined, and my husband's uncle, who was a very close relative, is also named Noboru. Meeting people with the same names as my family and relatives felt like such a coincidence, and I felt that I have a special connection to this workshop. What a coincidence!
**58:10 - Facilitator:**
Thank you, everyone! Have a great day!
