A Bit of Friday's Workshop 3/7
Question: Would you rather travel to the past or the future? Why?
Speaker 1:
That’s an interesting question for me because, if possible, I would like to experience both.
Both the future and the past have aspects I’d like to explore.
First, the reason I’d like to go to the past is that if possible, I would like to change certain things to improve my future. If I could, I would make different choices.
If possible, I would like to be a famous movie star like, Richard Gere or someone.
And as for the future, I’d like to go there to discover things that I don’t yet know.
I want to see what happens in the future and how things evolve.
For example, when I first started working at my company, we didn’t have fax machines.
When I joined the company, everything was done manually.
We didn’t have modern printers or fax machines.
Speaker 1:Do you know what a teletype is?
Speaker 2: No, what is it?
Speaker 1: It was an early communication device that worked like a typewriter, but it could send and receive messages over long distances using telegraph technology.
Speaker 4: Oh. That’s interesting!
Speaker 1:Yes, it was widely used before fax machines became common.
The teletype system was revolutionary at the time.
Speaker 2:
Technology has changed so much since then.
Speaker 1:
My first job was transcribing sentences from tape recordings.
Speaker 3:
That sounds interesting! I didn’t know that.
It’s fascinating how much technology has advanced.
Question:
If you could switch lives with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
Speaker 4:If I could, I would like to switch lives with my late father.
My father was not a talkative person. Since he didn’t talk much, I never really got to know him well. I would love to understand what he was thinking when he married my mother. He used to make neckties at home and never had a day off, so I never knew what was on his mind. I wish I had been able to ask him.
Question:Did you watch the Taiga drama Berabou last Sunday? What did you think about the heartbreaking story of Tsutaju and Hananoi?
Speaker 3:Hananoi was scheduled to marry…A blind, wealthy man.
But Tsutaju begged her…Not to marry him and to try to escape…
From Yoshiwara, from the okiya (prostitution house). He even left a note for Hananoi. But before this incident, another couple…Tried to do the same thing but were caught. They were discovered by…Someone—maybe someone from Yoshiwara.
Because of that, Tsutaju lost hope and gave up on escaping with Hananoi. The story of Hananoi and Tsutaju seems to be based on a true story. At this point, I don’t know how it will end. What will happen to them in the future? I have no idea.So far, I just feel sorry for them and their tragic love story. In the end, Hananoi married the blind wealthy man.At this stage, I’m wondering…How will this story continue from here?I guess we’ll see next week.Fuuka Koshiba .Their roles were played by Ryusei Yokohama and Fuuka Koshiba.
Speaker2:Watching their performances, I can’t help but wonder if they actually fell in love while acting, because they created such a beautiful and emotional scene.
Speaker 3:I think so too!
