Bit Of Wednesday Workshop 4/2
Question:-What comes to mind when people think of the Japanese entertainment:芸能 world.
I like Rakugo (traditional Japanese comic storytelling) and I like Taihei Hayashiya 林家たい平.
He’s very unique—his entertainment is special.
He’s also good at singing.
Taihei Hayashiya recorded a song titled “夜明けの散歩:A Walk at Dawn."He has his own radio program, and his assistant, announcer Ami Sakaguchi, encouraged him by saying, "You should aim for the Kōhaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Battle)!"Motivated by her words, he took it seriously and began aiming for it.
Eventually, he did get the chance to appear on Kōhaku. However, it wasn’t as a singer—instead, he participated as one of the kendama performers.Because of that, it’s said that he was quite shocked.
Question:If you could create a new flavor of tea, what ingredients would you use, and what would you name it?
In the past, I didn’t like natto very much.
In my hometown, we didn’t eat natto often.
I’m from the Chugoku region in western Japan. But when I moved to the Kanto area, I started eating natto and now I love it.
If possible, I’d like to make a natto-flavored tea. Yes, natto tea!
It might come in a pot. And inside, you’d see sticky natto paste.
The strings are like illegible Yes, sticky strings—very unique.
Most people might find it strange. But maybe it would taste good for those who like natto. I’d like to offer it in the future. Thank you.
Question:What’s the most unusual food you’ve ever tried, and did you like it?
The most unusual food I’ve ever eaten ...was what first came to mind:
Alligator meat and kangaroo meat—when I traveled to Australia about 30 years ago.
So I ate alligator meat, kangaroo meat, and some other exotic meats for the first time there.
I remember seeing a piece of alligator meat... and another of kangaroo meat.
Of course, I tried them, but at the time... I didn’t particularly like them.
I didn’t dislike them either. The taste wasn’t that strange—it was kind of similar to chicken.
So, the taste reminded me of common meats. That’s why I could eat them.
That was probably the most unusual food I’ve tried.
