🍁 Autumn English Conversation Highlights – 秋の英会話ハイライト

This month, we talked about many fun topics — from baseball and art to food and memories.今月は、野球から芸術、食べ物、思い出まで、いろいろな話題で盛り上がりました。

⚾ Q: Are you watching the MLB World Series?

A: Yes! It’s very exciting. Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Sasaki are all doing great. I believe the Dodgers will win!A（日本語）: はい、とてもエキサイティングです。大谷、山本、佐々木の活躍が素晴らしいです。ドジャースが勝つと思います！

🎩 Q: Have you ever worn a tuxedo?

A: Yes, about 30 years ago. I had to wear one for a training event and had it tailor-made. It was expensive but special.A（日本語）: はい、30年前に研修で着る必要があり、オーダーメイドしました。高価でしたが特別な体験でした。

📚 Q: Do you have books you bought but never read?

🦋 Q: What do you think of when you hear “zukan” (illustrated book)?

A: Insect books! As a child, I learned about bugs from them. Now my grandchildren love catching insects too.A（日本語）: 昆虫図鑑です。子どもの頃はそれで虫を学びました。今は孫たちも虫を捕まえるのが大好きです。

🥬 Q: Are you good at shredding cabbage finely?

A: Yes! I love making shredded cabbage with shio-koji. It’s delicious and healthy.A（日本語）: はい、大好きです。塩麹で和えるととても美味しくて健康的です。

🎨 Q: If you could receive one original masterpiece, whose painting would it be?

A: Katsushika Hokusai. His art inspired Van Gogh and many European painters. Van Gogh admired Japanese woodblock prints and pottery, too.A（日本語）: 葛飾北斎です。彼の絵はゴッホなど多くの西洋画家に影響を与えました。ゴッホも日本の版画や陶器を愛していました。

🎬 Q: Who is your favorite actor or actress?

A: Marilyn Monroe. She was beautiful and charming, but her real life was full of sadness. I admire her strength.A（日本語）: マリリン・モンローです。美しく魅力的でしたが、実生活は苦労が多かったと思います。その強さに惹かれます。

🦕 Q: Which museum would you like to visit this autumn?

A: The Dinosaur Museum in Fukui. I saw it on TV and it looked so exciting!A（日本語）: 福井の恐竜博物館です。テレビで見て、とても面白そうでした！

🍠 Q: What’s your favorite food in autumn?

A: Roasted sweet potatoes (yaki-imo). When I was a child, I used to buy them from a cart — such a happy memory!A（日本語）: 焼き芋です。子どもの頃、リヤカーの焼き芋屋さんから買った楽しい思い出があります。

🎾 Q: If you could do any sport now, what would it be?

A: I tried senior tennis, but it was hard. Now I’d like to try social dancing — fun and graceful.A（日本語）: シニアテニスをしましたが難しかったです。今は社交ダンスをやってみたいです。楽しくて上品です。

🍁 Q: If someone asked you to do something creative this autumn, what would you do?

A: I’d compose haiku. The theme is Shichi-Go-San and fallen leaves — difficult, but inspiring.A（日本語）: 俳句を作ります。テーマは七五三と落ち葉。難しいけれど心が動かされます。

🌸 Q: What’s your favorite smell in autumn?

A: The sweet scent of osmanthus flowers (kinmokusei). It reminds me of my school days and the gentle autumn air.A（日本語）: 金木犀の香りです。秋の空気や学生時代を思い出します。

🎹 Q: If you could instantly master one musical instrument, what would it be?

A: The piano! I admire Hayato Sumino and can’t wait for his concert in November.A（日本語）: ピアノです！角野隼斗さんが大好きで、11月のコンサートが楽しみです。

🌅 Q: Do you prefer sunrise or sunset?

A: Sunset. It makes me emotional and reflective. I used to watch it at a lovely café by the sea.A（日本語）: 夕日です。感傷的になり、自分を見つめ直す時間です。昔、海辺のカフェでよく見ました。

📼 Q: Do you still have any old videotapes?
