When you hear ‘Autumn Sky’, does it

remind you of anything?

**1:26: P1**

It is a good word.

I love autumn skies because they're high

and clear, with crisp clouds. Yesterday's

autumn full moon was beautiful in the clear

air.

I enjoy autumn skies, both day and night,

with various clouds.

In spring, there are fluffy clouds, and in

summer, you can see towering

cumulonimbus clouds.

So then, the next one. When you hear

‘Heian aristocracy’ (平安貴族), what comes

to your mind?

**7:45: P2**

In the Heian period, female writers like

Murasaki Shikibu and Sei Shonagon

emerged, and poetry (waka) became very

popular.

I admire their intelligence and respect them.

The oldest Japanese poetry collection also

came out during the Heian period.

In the Heian period, the first

imperial poetry anthology, the *Kokin

Wakashu*, was compiled.

When I think of Heian aristocrats, I imagine

them enjoying poetry (waka).

Digging the potatoes. That's really nice.

Next, when you hear ‘harvest moon’, does it

remind you of anything?

**15:59: P2**

I used to cook dumplings on the 15th night

(十五夜) for the moon viewing. As our

children got older, I stopped making

*satoimo* (taro) dumplings and some other

dishes.

But back then, the sky was much more

beautiful, and we enjoyed observing it.

This year, we visited a hot spring and were

able to witness the Milky Way. That was

amazing.

We also saw shooting stars. It was a

memorable day. I enjoyed it, that's all.

Next, when you hear the word "reading,"

what comes to your mind?

**36:11: P1**

I’m reading *Tobu ga Gotoku* by Ryotaro

Shiba.

It's a long novel set in the turbulent times

after the Meiji Restoration, focusing on the

friendship between two key figures, Saigo

Takamori and Okubo Toshimichi.

Before the Meiji Restoration, they were

friends, but afterward, they became

adversaries.

I’m fascinated by the differences in their

thinking. Although Okubo and Saigo had

opposing views, they both shared the goal

of building a modern nation that could

compete with foreign powers.

It’s very interesting, and there are six

volumes. I’ve already finished two, and now

I'm starting the third.
